Fat Freezing is also known as Cryolipolysis which means to use cold temperature to reduce fat deposits in certain areas of the body. Fat reduction occurs over 3-4 months post treatment and studies have show an average fat reduction of 15 to 28%.
Popular treatment areas include upper arms, thighs and abdomen. CoolSculpting is a popular brand of machine for this type of treatment.
So what kind of Certification and licensing might you need to offer treatments?
Firstly lets tackle certification. There is no national certification in US or Australia to perform these treatments.
There is an ethical and moral requirement to ensure you are trained and skilled to provide these treatments. It’s important you are trained on how to provide treatments, including pre and post care. You can find Cryoform Body Contouring Fat Freezing Certification course here.
In terms of licencing, there is also no federal (national) requirements, they have left this up to the states to choose whether or not to regulate. Because these treatments are non-invasive and don’t pierce the skin, they are considered low risk compared to other beauty treatments.
What we tend find is most states are pretty relaxed when it comes down to the requirements as the treatment does not pierce the skin, so most States do not require a licence to perform ultrasonic fat cavitation.
